British Colon Cancer Deaths Drop to 10-Year Low

LONDON (Reuters) Mar 01 – Deaths due to colon cancer in Britain have dropped to a 10-year-old low thanks to greater awareness of the disease, improved surgical techniques and better treatments, doctors said on Friday.
From about 19,000 per year in the late 1980s and early 1990s, deaths have fallen to 15,800 according to the latest figures released by Cancer Research UK, the country's leading charity devoted to the treatment and prevention of the disease.

More people are getting the disease, mainly because the population is ageing and screening methods have improved, but fewer are dying from it. …
