ATLANTA (Reuters Health) Mar 26 – Two commonly used drugs–proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) and aspirin–are apparently safe to use during pregnancy. Canadian researchers presented the findings here Tuesday at the annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics that is underway here.
In one study, Myla E. Moretti and colleagues, with The Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, followed a cohort of 77 women exposed to PPIs in pregnancy. They also conducted a meta-analysis including their data and four additional studies, which included more than 600 pregnancies exposed to PPIs.
