Life threatening haemoptysis in patients with cystic fibrosis can be safely and effectively controlled by bronchial artery embolization.
Researchers from specialist units at five hospitals in Madrid, Spain undertook evaluation of the clinical characteristics presented and the management of life – threatening haemoptysis, a frequent complication in patients with cystic fibrosis.
Participants included twelve adult patients with cystic fibrosis, eight male and four female, who were followed up at the Cystic Fibrosis Units of the Autonomous Community of Madrid from June 1990 to December 1999.
