NEW YORK (Reuters Health) Mar 29 – At doses typically used by clinicians, atorvastatin is better than simvastatin at improving the lipid profiles of patients with dyslipidemia, according to a report published in the March 15th issue of The American Journal of Cardiology.
Atorvastatin therapy is linked to a significantly greater reduction in LDL cholesterol (LDL-C) than simvastatin therapy. Furthermore, patients treated with atorvastatin are more likely to reach their National Cholesterol Education Program (NCEP) LDL-C goal.
