Grapeseed Extract Does Not Relieve Seasonal Allergic Rhinitis

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) Mar 25 – Grapeseed extract is not effective in relieving seasonal allergy symptoms, a small study shows.
To investigate the effects of grapeseed extract, which is touted as a natural antihistamine, Dr. David I. Bernstein, from the University of Cincinnati in Ohio, and colleagues gave 100 mg of extract twice daily or an inactive placebo to 54 individuals aged 18 to 75 with ragweed allergies. The dose used in the study was double the manufacturer's daily recommended dose of 50 mg to 100 mg, the authors note.
