Socioeconomic Status Affects US Breast Cancer Care More Than Race

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) Apr 03 – Previous research has shown that African American women are more likely than white women to have late-stage breast cancer at diagnosis and, consequently, worse outcomes. However, results of a new study in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute for April 3 indicate that socioeconomic status, not race, is to blame.
