Uveitis Likely to Be Severe if Alpha-2-Globulin Is Elevated in Juvenile Arthritis

When anterior uveitis presents in a child with oligoarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA), severity can be predicted on the basis of the interval since arthritis onset and serum level of alpha-2-globulin, physicians in Italy report.

Therefore, they recommend in the Journal of Rheumatology for November, ophthalmological examinations should be conducted more frequently than guidelines suggest if ocular involvement occurs within a short time after JIA diagnosis or if alpha-2-globulin levels are elevated.
