The off-label and unlicensed prescribing of drugs to children in Germany and the Netherlands is a common problem, according to three reports in the June 1st issue of the British Medical Journal.
In the first report, Dr. Christoph H. Gleiter, from the University Hospital T bingen, Germany, and colleagues retrospectively reviewed 1.74 million prescriptions, written by 6886 physicians for 455,661 children 0 to 16 years, between January 1 and March 31, 1999.
