In the past decade, antibiotic prescription rates for children and adolescents in the US have decreased significantly, according to a report published in the June 19th issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association.
From 1980 to 1992, antimicrobial prescription rates for children by office-based physicians increased. During the 1990s, the prevalence of antibiotic-resistant organisms also increased.
