While both the International Headache Society and the Silberstein and Lipton systems allow for the classification of most patients with chronic daily headache (CDH), the Silberstein and Lipton system is less cumbersome and requires only one diagnosis, according to a report in the current issue of Cephalalgia.
“The International Headache Society (IHS) has been criticized for its approach to classification of CDH,” Dr. Marcelo E. Bigal, of the New England Center for Headache, Stamford, Connecticut, and colleagues note. “Silberstein and Lipton criteria provide an alternative to this approach.”
